1. About TodayLine
TodayLine is a desktop application that displays your Google Calendar events for today in a semi-transparent, always-on-top overlay window. The application is designed to give you a quick glance at your schedule without leaving your current workflow. TodayLine is currently available on Windows, with macOS support planned.
2. Information We Access
TodayLine requests access to your Google account using the following OAuth 2.0 scope:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly — Read-only access to your Google Calendar events.
This scope allows TodayLine to retrieve the list of calendar events scheduled for the current day. TodayLine requests only the minimum permissions necessary to provide its core functionality.
3. How We Use Your Data
The calendar data retrieved from Google Calendar API is used exclusively for the following purpose:
- Rendering a timeline of today's events in the TodayLine desktop overlay window.
All data processing occurs locally on your device. Event data is fetched in real time, displayed immediately, and is never written to disk, cached persistently, or transmitted over the network to any server operated by TodayLine or any third party.
4. Data Storage
TodayLine does not:
- Store your calendar events in any database, file, or cloud service.
- Log or record event titles, descriptions, attendees, or any other event metadata.
- OAuth tokens are stored securely by the operating system's credential manager (e.g., Windows Credential Manager or macOS Keychain) to maintain your login across app restarts. Tokens are retained until you explicitly sign out or revoke access, and are never transmitted externally.
5. Data Sharing
TodayLine does not share, sell, rent, or disclose your Google Calendar data to any third party, including advertisers, analytics providers, or other services. Your data is used solely for displaying your schedule on your local device.
6. Google API Services
TodayLine's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- Google user data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing features of TodayLine.
- Google user data is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the app's features.
- Google user data is not used or transferred for serving advertisements.
- Google user data is not used or transferred for determining creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- A human will not read Google user data unless (a) the user has given affirmative consent, (b) it is necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse), or (c) it is required to comply with applicable law.
7. Authentication & Security
TodayLine uses Google's official OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Google account credentials (username and password) are never seen or stored by TodayLine. Authentication is handled entirely by Google's secure login pages. OAuth tokens are stored locally using the operating system's secure credential storage (e.g., Windows Credential Manager or macOS Keychain) and are used only to make authorized API requests on your behalf.
8. Children's Privacy
TodayLine is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data Deletion & Your Rights
Since TodayLine does not store your calendar data on any server, there is no cloud data to delete. To remove all TodayLine-related data from your device:
- Sign out from within the application, which clears all locally stored OAuth tokens.
- Revoke TodayLine's access via your Google Account Permissions page.
- Uninstall TodayLine from your device.
